How can I get this lift to take me anywhere?
1 of 14: If you look around, you'll find that there are no lift controls nearby.
2 of 14: Have you tried getting on the lift to see what happens?
3 of 14: It'll sink a bit when you get on it, but it won't go very far down.
4 of 14: You need to have more weight on the lift to force it down to the next level.
5 of 14: Since the vort isn't going to get on the lift and help, you'll have to find heavy items to pile on the lift.
6 of 14: Look near the lift to find three usable items.
7 of 14: There are two barrels and a bundle of small metal beams.
8 of 14: You can pick up each item with the gravity gun and then drop it on the lift.
9 of 14: When you add your weight to that, the lift will quickly descend to the bottom.
10 of 14: However, there's an intermediate stop that has a supply crate on it. Read on to learn how to get it.
11 of 14: One way is to put one barrel and the beam bundle onto the lift, then get on it and wait for it to stop near the supply ledge.
12 of 14: Jump out of the lift and onto the ledge, then get the supplies.
13 of 14: The lift will go up out of reach, but you can drop down to the bottom of the lift shaft by carefully dropping onto the metal beams that go around its perimeter. You'll only take a little health damage, which can easily be restored by treading on the grubs down there.
14 of 14: A much easier way to get that supply crate is to go to the left of the lift and look down to where you can see the crate, then pull on it with the gravity gun until it falls down to the bottom of the shaft. Then you can ride the lift straight down and get it.
