Half-Life 2 Hints
How can I get to the famous hard-to-get-to secret area in here?
of 10: The secret area is the small vent shaft that most of the manhacks came out of when you entered the room.
of 10: It's high up on one wall, near the big rusty light-blue pipe that goes along near the ceiling.
of 10: Making your way along that pipe, you'll find that to get into the vent shaft, you'll have to be able to get up onto the large metal beam that's near it.
of 10: However, you can't do that unless you have something to set on the pipe and jump onto.
of 10: This is easiest if you didn't blow up all the explosive barrels in the room.
of 10: Look down and just to the right of the shaft opening to see an explosive barrel that's easy to grab onto if you move as close as you can to it and crouch.
of 10: Swing the barrel carefully around the place where the pipe you're on slopes downward, then carry it back to where the pipe bends right next to the large metal beam.
of 10: Carefully drop the barrel onto the pipe bend and then jump onto it.
of 10: Jump from it to the metal beam, and then jump to the vent shaft. (Be sure to crouch after you jump toward the shaft and before you land in it.)
of 10: If you blew up the barrels, you can try to get a regular barrel to stand upright and then carry it up onto the pipe, but that's *very* hard to do. Ditto with the wooden supply crate that's floating around in the room with all the pipes and the valve wheel. (It's doable, though, if you're *that* desperate for one single armor battery.)
