Half-Life 2 Hints
Section 4: Manhacks and Tunnels (d1_canals_03)
1 of 17: Keep going down the brick tunnels until you reach one that's blocked by various debris, including two explosive barrels.
2 of 17: TIP: You can clear the debris quickly by shooting the explosive barrels, but it's better to save them for use in upcoming combats.
3 of 17: Right after that, you'll come to the boarded-over doorway of a resistance guy's little hideout area.
4 of 17: When you enter, he'll start talking to you, and then you'll have to deal with the first of many manhack attacks.
6 of 17: Just past the third manhack area, you can drop down onto a small ledge that has a ladder leading down to the floor of a dank sewer tunnel. However, you should go for a nearby secret area before dropping or climbing down to the tunnel floor.
8 of 17: Before you go into the room beyond the tunnel and figure out how to get past the big mixing fan in the water, go for the second nearby secret area.
9 of 17: After you leave the water, you'll come to a large area with a huge steam pipe going down the middle of it. Proceed carefully, since there are four cops hiding nearby.
10 of 17: You need to get on top of the huge pipe and follow it along to its end. Since getting on the pipe is your only real goal in this area, there are some shortcuts available for skipping the above cop fights.
12 of 17: Swimming through the square tunnel, you'll end up outside next to another flaming-barrel cop ambush. (I'm sure you've really been missing those!)
15 of 17: Once you drop into the huge room full of manhacks and explosive barrels, you're going to have a whole lot to worry about, starting with the initial manhack attack.
16 of 17: In the water-filled room past the whole manhacks-and-barrels area, you're going to have to figure out how to get up onto the walkway with the stairs.
