Half-Life 2 Hints
Combat Tips
of 10: First, before you follow the huge pipe along toward the grassy slope, wait for a scanner to come near you so you can bash it for an armor battery.
of 10: Then equip the pistol and move slowly alongside the pipe toward the grass.
of 10: When two cops rappel down a ways ahead of you, quickly back up a bit and pick them off with head shots from the pistol. (This always worked better for me than charging them with the SMG.)
of 10: Go pick up their SMG ammo, but keep your pistol ready as you move forward onto the grassy slope.
of 10: Two more SMG-wielding cops will appear behind the fencing and start shooting at you.
of 10: Once again, I found it best to retreat a ways and pop them with pistol shots, but you may prefer charging them with the SMG. (Remember to still go for head shots for quicker kills.)
of 10: If the cops manage to release manhacks (which they definitely will if you retreat when they appear), you'll have to deal with the manhacks as they come over the fence after you, then shoot the cops from behind cover. If you take your time and do it right, you'll lose very little armor and health.
of 10: When it's all over, you can go pick up one armor battery from your earlier scanner-bashing (if you haven't used it already) plus another one in a corner of the grassy area near the fence.
of 10: Up some stairs near the grassy slope is a supply crate you can break open, but watch out for the barnacle that's hanging its tongue down just past the first three steps.
of 10: If you get up on the tiny ledge that's next to the fence and run along it, you might be able to pick up one or both of the SMGs that the cops on the other side dropped.
