Where can I go from here?
1 of 6: There's an unbreakable grating ahead of you blocking further progress in that direction.
2 of 6: So look to the right for some bashable boards near a painted lambda symbol.
3 of 6: Drop down into the room past the boards to find two small crawlways.
4 of 6: One of them goes under the pipe and leads to some secret supplies (including your very first SMG grenade).
5 of 6: The other crawlway leads to a square tunnel in one wall that takes you through a bit of water.
6 of 6: TIP: Take any supplies from the secret area and from the niche near the barnacles that you don't need right now and drop them into the water so you can get to them later. (Dropping down into the water is another point of no return.)
