Section 1: Traps and Zombies (d1_town_01)

  • 1 of 18: When you walk out into the first Ravenholm outdoor area, you'll see how the town got its name. (If you've got plenty of SMG ammo, have fun shooting down as many ravens as you can.)
  • 2 of 18: As you move forward, look in the darkness to the left to find the first of *many* zombies. This one is lounging around next to a building's front walkway, almost directly to the left of the tree with the lamp and severed legs hanging on it.
  • 3 of 18: When you're through exploring the small outdoor area, see about finding a way to move on to more areas (and more zombies).
  • 4 of 18: In the large room past the shed, have fun using saw blades and/or explosive gas canisters to kill the zombies that come in through the doorway on the right, plus the ones sitting around pretending to be dead.
  • 5 of 18: Soon after that, you'll step back outside near a patented zombie-killing machine that someone rigged up.
  • 6 of 18: In the large shed past the machine, knock the wooden pallets out of the doorway and deal with the headcrabs wandering around before searching the place for items.
  • 7 of 18: Use the gravity gun or crowbar to remove the boards from the shed's exit, then go outside to find a short alley leading to another zombie-filled shed.
  • 8 of 18: After clearing that shed out, raid its supply crates and then remove the junk from its exit door.
  • 9 of 18: As you turn the corner past the drop-down shed exit and start moving down the street, a door will burst open on an upper floor of the building directly ahead of you, revealing the guy you've heard shouting semi-religious nonsense a couple of times already. At least he has the good sense to back his preachings up with a shotgun! (I guess "speak loudly and carry a big boomstick" is his motto.)
  • 10 of 18: Let him kill all the zombies coming down the street toward you, then follow the street along as it slants upward and to the right.
  • 11 of 18: The first thing you'll come across is a boarded-over butcher shop on the right.
  • 12 of 18: At the other end of the street, you'll find a side alley that's blocked with flames. The ground-level entrance to the building that the shotgun guy was on the upper floor of earlier has a similar problem.
  • 13 of 18: After you dispose of the zombies in the side alley, check out the electrified fence in the back.
  • 14 of 18: To move on to the next part of town, you're going to have to either get over that fence and past some areas beyond it, or use the shortcut from contributor John "d j" that skips all of that.
  • 15 of 18: In the building past the window you go through, look down to the lower floor and pick off the zombie and headcrabs down there before you drop down.
  • 16 of 18: Remove the boards from one of the building exits to reach the next outdoor area, in which two interesting new zombie-killing traps are rigged up.
  • 17 of 18: After all the local zombies are smushed, you can optionally go for a secret area while looking around for an exit from this street.
  • 18 of 18: In the room past the window, open the door and move forward until Section 2: Crossing the Street loads.
