Half-Life 2 Hints
Block the Gate Strategy
1 of 9: Find the long, narrow wooden table that's between the open gate and the small room with the grenade crate.
2 of 9: Put the table lengthwise through the open gate's doorway (so that it's sticking out in both directions).
3 of 9: The gate will be blocked enough to prevent Combine soldiers from moving through it, but you can easily jump onto the table and run through the gate.
4 of 9: When that's set up, go into the small room to trigger the soldiers' appearance, then make a quick run across your table and head for the left wall.
5 of 9: Stand against the wall facing the gate at an angle so that you can see its open doorway, but nothing to the right of it (not even bars).
6 of 9: It might also be handy to have an upright barrel just in front of you so you can quickly crouch for cover, but it's not necessary.
7 of 9: Wait right there for soldiers to start appearing in the doorway ahead of you.
8 of 9: Shoot them down quickly with the .357 and/or crossbow if you have enough ammo for those (pulse rifle and SMG otherwise).
9 of 9: If any soldiers are shy and don't appear in your little shooting gallery, move around so that they see you, then quickly return to your spot.
