Half-Life 2 Hints

Section 4: Rooftop and Skybridge (d3_c17_11)

  • 1 of 10: Open the door at the top of the stairs and send your squad outside to deal with the nearby Combine soldiers.
  • 2 of 10: After they've taken down all the soldiers in and around the first rooftop area, go out and locate the distant lookout tower that's all the way across the roof, and shoot down its soldier with the crossbow.
  • 3 of 10: Then find all the nearby supply crates and the infinite rocket crate.
  • 4 of 10: WARNING: The soldiers and striders that you can see down in the courtyard below will sometimes shoot up at you, especially if you have a squad with you to make you a more visible target.
  • 5 of 10: After filling up on rockets, go down the stairs leading to the next rooftop area and move forward until a gunship rises up, accompanied by one of the game's coolest tunes.
  • 6 of 10: A short while after you trash the gunship, a dropship will deposit some troops behind the closed Combine gate that's at the other end of the second roof segment.
  • 7 of 10: Fortunately, those careless soldiers left the gate wide open, so you can head on to the skybridge area after recharging at the gate's health and armor stations.
  • 8 of 10: When the skybridge is in place, you'll need to kill off the huge soldier population at its other end before it's safe to cross.
  • 9 of 10: After both ends of the bridge are secured, go back to the Combine gate and recharge at its health and armor stations, then go refill at the infinite rocket crate. Also, check your stash at the bottom of the stairwell if you have one to see if there's anything there that you need.
  • 10 of 10: Return to the area across the skybridge and drop down to the checkered walkway near the flaming rubble to start Section 5: Strider Courtyard.
