Half-Life 2 Hints

Section 6: Single Strider and Wrecked Building (d3_c17_12b)

  • 1 of 10: You'll soon come to a large rubble-blocked tunnel where a strider will crash down behind you and chase you along.
  • 2 of 10: Find the large ground-level hole in the nearby wall and run through it so the strider can't shoot you when it reaches the tunnel exit.
  • 3 of 10: There are five soldiers in the building you've just entered that you need to deal with right away.
  • 4 of 10: Explore the soldiers' upstairs area to find a small bathroom with two supply crates. (Watch out for the windows near the bathroom, since the strider can shoot you through them.)
  • 5 of 10: TIP: From here on to the end of this chapter section, you can wait in a safe spot pretty much anywhere for scanners to come to you. They never stop coming, and are therefore an unlimited source of armor batteries.
  • 6 of 10: Your goal now is to reach the highest floor of what's left of this building, which is where you'll find the local infinite rocket crate (and the area exit).
  • 7 of 10: You're now completely past the strider and safe from it, but you could use the nearby infinite rocket crate to help you shoot the strider down. (However, that doesn't help you at all in the next area -- it can just be a bit of fun.)
  • 8 of 10: After refilling on rockets, wait around and smash scanners until your armor rating is 100. You may also want to get a few spare batteries to throw ahead of you and use in the next area, and you might want to do the same with any leftover RPGs if you created a stockpile of them earlier.
  • 9 of 10: When you're ready to go, jump the small floor gap past the infinite rocket crate and check out the lambda-marked supply crate stash.
  • 10 of 10: Drop through the big floor hole near the lambda stash after dropping down any supplies you want to take with you, then start down the short corridor to reach Section 7: Two More Striders and a Car Bomb.
