Half-Life: Opposing Force Hints
Where do I find an engineer to blast open the entrance to the Lambda Sector?
of 22: So you've made it to the surface and met a medic who tells you where you need to go and how you need to get there.
of 22: He tells you that you need to find an engineer to break through the door leading to the Lambda Sector.
of 22: You need to spend some time looking around for the engineer.
of 22: He's not out in the open. That is for sure.
of 22: He has hidden himself inside the nearby warehouse.
of 22: You need to find a way into the warehouse.
of 22: The only way in is through a busted air duct nearby. Crawl into it and follow it along.
of 22: When you come to the vent at the end of the air duct, don't break through immediately. Some Black Ops assassins are having a conversation. It might be beneficial to listen in.
of 22: Unfortunately for you, you find out that the Black Ops are mysteriously against you and the rest of the military.
of 22: You now have to deal with the Black Ops running around the warehouse. There are about five of them total.
of 22: Don't worry about using a crowbar on the vent. Just pick your favorite gun, preferably something with quick firing and quick reloading like the Mp5 or the Desert Eagle, and shoot out the vent. Don't give the two assassins in front of you too much time to think.
of 22: If you do the vent-shooting from a ways back, the two guys nearby may not notice, in which case you can easily finish them off with a C4 satchel. You might want to save your game before trying and restore if things don't go right. (Try using the Desert Eagle .357 if the handgun keeps alerting them.)
of 22: Once they're taken care of, be on the lookout for three more.
of 22: Two should be guarding the exit off to your left, and one should be behind the boxes off to your right. Deal with them and then begin looking around the warehouse.
of 22: There is a button on one of the walls that opens up a rusty old garage door.
of 22: Behind it lies an injured engineer.
of 22: He needs to be healed before he can get up and help you, so you need to find the medic and bring him to the engineer.
of 22: The exit, once guarded by two of the assassins, will lead you back outside to the medic. Be careful of the tripmine and auto-turret deployed in the small hallway separating the exit door from the outdoors.
of 22: Grab the medic and bring him to the engineer.
of 22: The medic will heal up the engineer and then you can all run out to the entrance to the Lambda Sector. The engineer will break through the door once you get him close enough.
of 22: Keep your medic away from the entrance to the Lambda Sector. When the engineer breaks through, he will find a deployed auto-turret right behind the door. You will lose the engineer, but you don't want to lose the medic as well.
of 22: You might could save the engineer by having your Desert Eagle .357 ready when he cuts the door down and quickly firing at the turret before he stupidly runs up to it. It's worth a try since saving both the engineer and the medic will allow you to have up to four marines following you in a totally fun upcoming game segment.
