Spirits attack Yorda while I'm in this courtyard!
1 of 4: Yes. That's because you changed to a different "screen" when you went through the window -- denoted by a quick fade to black. Yorda is especially vulnerable when you leave her on another screen.
2 of 4: You should try to hurry across this screen. If you don't delay, you have enough time to get back off this screen before the spirits arrive. Just follow the other hints in this section and keep going until you get another loading screen, taking you back to Yorda's location.
3 of 4: If that still isn't possible, getting back to the previous screen another way will also work.
4 of 4: Try going back through the windows that brought you into the courtyard in the first place. This will also put you back on the screen where Yorda is and reset the timer.
