Icewind Dale II Hints
Defeat Isair and Madae.
of 15: This is your ultimate win-the-game quest, but it requires quite a bit of preparation.
of 15: First, you'll want to do the other two main quests for this area since completing them greatly weakens the evil twins' defenses.
of 15: Also, help out the transformed monk who's being held prisoner with some of his men in the War Tower. When you cure him, he'll pledge his support for the final battle.
of 15: Then talk to Riki on level 4 of the main fortress.
of 15: You'll need to deal with the guard barracks in the SE part of the level and finish Toral Sorn's purification ritual (which is essential in the execution of the other two main quests) if you haven't already.
of 15: Once you get all that done, Riki will tell you of the alliance that Isair and Madae are trying to make with a bunch of half-dragons, and that you must get up to the aerie (top level) of the War Tower in order to stop them.
of 15: NOTE: If you want Riki and her shop to stay around, always ask to see her wares when you talk to her from now on, and never choose the "farewell" dialogue option.
of 15: As soon as you emerge on the War Tower aerie, the half-dragon delegation and some guards sent to escort them inside will appear and attack you.
of 15: After you kill them off, take your time looting their treasure and resting up before you go back down the stairs to level 3. When you do, a red wizard named Buvai de'Naly will teleport you to Isair and Madae's throne room to begin the endgame battles.
of 15: In the first stage, you have to fight Isair and Madae along with de'Naly and a few other allies. If you helped Ormis Dohor earlier, he and his monks will appear to help you.
of 15: When one of the twins gets badly injured, they'll both retreat to the radiant pool room. I sure hope you purified the pool earlier, since they'll regain full health from it if you didn't.
of 15: After they retreat, finish off any monsters in the throne room and then heal and loot. You don't have to go fight again until you open the throne room door.
of 15: When you're ready, go to the pool room and continue attacking the twin that's injured the most. (Note that if it's Isair, he may cast Improved Invisibility to help protect himself. Be ready to cast See Invisibility or drink an equivalent potion.)
of 15: When you injure your targeted twin enough, they'll both get caught up in the mythal's planeshift to limbo, and Orrick will appear and warn you to get out.
of 15: So go take the stairs that lead down to level 2 of the fortress. The endgame cut scene will take over when you do.
