Journey to the Center of the Earth Hints
My LEFT tray is HEAVY after the 1st weighing. What next?
1 of 3: One of the balls you just weighed IS the unique ball if the Left tray is Heavy. (It could be one of the light balls or one of the heavy ones.)
Results after First Weighing: Known to be alike: 9, 10, 11, 12 (none of these are different) Left Heavy Balls are: 1, 2, 3, 4 Right Light Balls are: 5, 6, 7, 8
Remember to reset the scales by clicking on the center lever again. Lights should go out, but number will remain.
For your 2nd Weighing, weigh just 3 balls on each side. It helps to swap sides with two of the balls. For the ones you decide not to weigh, make a note of them and try to put them together on the bottom dish.
2 of 3: On the left tray, you'll want 2 heavy ones and one light.
The right side should have one heavy and 1 light, plus one of the "Known To Be Equal" balls to even out the sides.
To keep following my guide, remove 4, 7 and 8 and put them at the bottom. Then put these balls in the trays: Left: 1, 2, 5 / Right: 3, 6, 9. Click on the center lever to complete the 2nd Weighing.
Your results here will do one of the following: - If even, the odd ball is 4, 7 or 8 (the ones not weighed) - If not level, it is one of those you just weighed (1, 2, 3, 5 or 6). It can't be 9 because it was proven to be alike earlier.

3 of 3: For the 3rd trial, remove all of the balls you just weighed. Reset the scales by clicking on the lever.
On the scales, weigh two against each other depending upon what your results were in the 2nd weighing.
If Even, choose from the ones not weighed.
If still Heavy on the Left, weigh both of the balls from the Heavy side against each other.
If, however, the heaviness has changed to the RIGHT side, pick one of those and weigh it against a Known ball. When ready, click on the lever to complete the 3rd weighing.
Using your keen observation and deductive skills, you should be able to figure out the answer!
IMPORTANT: After the 3rd weighing you are to pick the different ball based on the results. (Click on your choice to put it in inventory. Do NOT click on the lever! If you do, you'll have to start the puzzle all over again! After the ball is in inventory, Exit the screen by clicking on the upper left icon.)
My choices for the 3rd weighing (using results from the SECOND trial) were: EVEN: Left: 7 / Right: 8
