Journey to the Center of the Earth Hints

What is the solution to the Seals Puzzle?

  • 1 of 11: This puzzle is difficult because of the cryptic clues and answers that sometimes don't make sense.  I didn't quite understand the reasoning behind some of the answers myself, so some of what you read here is pure guesswork.

Understanding what each iconic tile means is only half the battle.  Read the link below to see where each one sits at the beginning of the puzzle and what I think they represent.

The Full Solution is contained in the very last hint of this question, so keep reading if you need that.
  • 2 of 11: There are 12 tiles and only 9 lines in the the clues.

The first and second lines give you basic instructions on which side is which and where to start.
  • 3 of 11: Line 3 explains how the tiles are divided between the Orient and the Occident.
  • 4 of 11: You'll begin with Nature and place six tiles beginning at the top left side going counter-clockwise.
  • 5 of 11: For the first six tiles, think only how each clue applies to Nature -- or a natural way of life.  Where are man's beginnings ... what is eaten ... where raw goods come from ... how things are made ... etc.
  • 6 of 11: In Nature, man is born ... he is fed with natural food ... the earth provides raw goods ... things are made by hand ... energy is provided by weather ... and nature's whims guide him.
  • 7 of 11: So the first tile is the one for Mother.  And the last is the drama masks (possibly representing chance).
  • 8 of 11: When those are placed, put in the Technology tiles immediately after the Nature group, continuing counter-clockwise so that your last tile goes at the top right position.
  • 9 of 11: For Technology, change your way of thinking for each clue.  What would each mean in a civilization based on technology?
  • 10 of 11: In a technologically rich world, man is believed to come from the sea ... his food is harvested with tools instead of by hand ... mining is streamlined with machinery ... science is important in changing everyday things ... energy is used for higher goals ... and, finally, man is guided over the oceans.
  • 11 of 11: So, the first tile for Technology is the Ocean Waves and the last one is the Lighthouse.
