of 16: When in a close-up of the magical lock, it is possible to click on one of the three letters. When you do, a new set of three letters will appear.
of 16: Each different letter always brings up a consistent set of new letters. For example, clicking on an "s" will always bring up the letters "b, r, k"; while clicking on an "m" will always bring up the letters "c, s, b".
of 16: To open this door, you will need to click on several letters (one from each set of three letters), in the correct order.
of 16: The first set of letters available is m, s, k. To reset the puzzle to the starting set of letters, press the blue oval located over the letters.
of 16: The scroll from the Caretaker's office provides some of the letters of the combination, although you will still not have all the information needed to open the door (that wouldn't be much fun, would it?). Note: If you have already retrieved the scroll, it can be viewed in the documents inventory.
of 16: The scroll has a couple of holes in it. It reads as follows, with the holes marked with (?) -- "m, b, (?), f, (?), x".
of 16: This tells us that the first letter you will need to press is "m", which brings up three new letter choices -- "c, s, b".
of 16: The second letter on the scroll is "b". Since there is a "b" included in the choices, that will be your next selection choice. This will bring up three new letters -- "x, t, r".
of 16: After the "b", however, the hole in the scroll conveniently obscures the next letter. From here, you will need to figure out which letter (or letters), from the set "x, t, r" will bring up a set of three letters that includes the letter "f".
of 16: If you click on the "x", the three letters that appear are "m, s, k". Since there isn't an "f" in this set, "x" cannot be the correct choice.
of 16: However, the next two letters "t" and "r" both bring up the letter "f". Only one of these choices is correct, and at this point it is impossible to know which choice it is. So, the solution, so far is "m, b, (either t or r), f, (?), x".
of 16: Whenever "f" is selected, three new letters show up -- "r, t, c". Since we know the final letter must be "x", you will need to check each of the three letters to see if one (or more) of them will produce a set of letters that includes an "x".
of 16: Both "r" and "c" produce a three-letter set that includes an "x". So now the solution could be as follows: "m, b, (either t or r), f, (either r or c), x".
of 16: The only way to solve this puzzle is to try all possible combinations. It will be easy to tell when you've found the correct combination, for the door will automatically open.
