How do I win at the Minotaur game?

  • 1 of 10: In case you cannot find it...
  • 2 of 10: Before you can play the Minotaur game, you will need to acquire some playing pieces.
  • 3 of 10: Zak is quick to tell Lydia the rules of the game -- move the Goblin to the stairs before the Minotaur catches him.
  • 4 of 10: The Goblin can only move one space per turn, while the Minotaur can move two.  It is important to note that the Minotaur does not move two spaces every time.  Sometimes he moves only one -- sometimes not at all.
  • 5 of 10: The reason the Minotaur does not always move two spaces per turn is because one of the little walls blocks his movements.
  • 6 of 10: If you could keep the Minotaur trapped behind some of the little walls for part of the time, it can help the Goblin stay ahead.  You'll have to plan the Goblin's moves carefully to lure the Minotaur behind a wall (or behind a set of two walls).
  • 7 of 10: The Minotaur tries to match the position of the Goblin, both horizontally and vertically, by making direct movement toward the Goblin.  The Minotaur cannot move away from the Goblin (which means he will not always be able to go around a simple wall).
  • 8 of 10: The Minotaur always tries to match his position to the Goblin horizontally first.  He will only move vertically first if the Goblin is in the same column -- or if horizontal movement is blocked.
  • 9 of 10: You won't be able to take the Goblin on a direct route to the stairs before the Minotaur will catch him.
  • 10 of 10: You must figure out how to trap the Minotaur instead -- in three separate places.  You'll need to plan the moves of the Goblin carefully, in order to manipulate the moves of the Minotaur into places where he will be trapped -- at least for a few moves each time.
