Keepsake Hints

How do I restart the main water pump in the academy?

  • 1 of 8: The apparatus/puzzle that will restart the water pump is located in the water pump room.
  • 2 of 8: Just as you enter the water pump room, you should see a short flight of stairs leading down to a platform just to the right of where Lydia enters the room.  Go down these stairs, then go into a close-up of the desk-like box.  Go into a close-up of it and open it to begin.  Note: It will not be possible to solve this puzzle at the beginning of the game.  Only when a water source is needed will it be possible to solve it.  If you're not sure if you are ready to solve it, go into a close-up of the puzzle and click on the small question mark in the bottom left corner.
  • 3 of 8: When you open the desk-like box, you should see a lot of squares with gears on them.  It is possible to rearrange the squares by clicking on two of them (they will swap places).
  • 4 of 8: Once all the gears are correctly placed, you'll need to do two more things.  The first is on the same panel with the gears.
  • 5 of 8: Be sure to pull the small lever on the right side.
  • 6 of 8: Almost done now.  Only one more step.  Be sure you've had a good look around the water pump room for an idea of what to do.
  • 7 of 8: Walk back up to the door where you first entered the room, then take the other set of stairs to the left of the short flight of stairs.
  • 8 of 8: At the bottom of the stairs, you should find a small area with a lever.  Be sure to pull this lever to restart the main water pump.
