Keepsake Hints
How do I win the game in the study?
of 14: The location of the study is not explained on the map. It is located on the floor above the Main Tower.
of 14: Before you can start playing the game, you will need to "unlock it".
of 14: Look for the blue sphere with the two golden rings around it. Simply touch it and Lydia will do the rest. If Lydia doesn't know how to unlock the puzzle, she will need to learn how to unlock the puzzle.
of 14: To win the game you will need to get the dragon to his lair (cave). The dragon starts in the top right corner, the lair is in the bottom left corner.
of 14: Along the bottom of the playing area is a diagram that includes a dragon, a mage, a gnome, a red warrior, and a knight. The arrows between the different diagrams show a relationship between the characters that affects the way the characters can move.
of 14: The characters can only move by exchanging places with another character -- but movement is limited. The diagram at the bottom shows which characters can be exchanged with each other. The dragon, for example, can only exchange places with the mage. The mage can exchange places with either the dragon or the gnome. The same rule applies to the remaining characters. Walls cannot be moved.
of 14: The knights are the least useful pieces, and will need to be moved out of the way before moving the dragon.
of 14: The best place to put the knights is in the bottom right corner of the playing area. Since the only character that the knights can exchange with is the red warrior, you will need to bring the warriors into position near the bottom right as well.
of 14: Once the knights are out of the way, you should start to plan moves for the dragon. Note that there are only three mages, which makes it impossible to move the dragon all the way to the lair at once.
of 14: You'll have to look for a place to rest the dragon temporarily to give you a change to rearrange the mages.
of 14: The best place to rest the dragon is one that would still allow movement between four characters in a square formation.
of 14: The place to rest the dragon is off to the left of the playing area, just over the cave and the wall (the first column and second row).
of 14: In order to get the dragon into the location mentioned above, you will need to use the mage at the bottom of the playing area (standing by the lair).
of 14: Before starting the dragon's second set of movement from his resting area to the lair, you will need to move the mage back into position in front of the lair.
