The Elder Scrolls IV: Knights of the Nine Hints
Why shouldn't I start a new game with this module installed?
1 of 5: The leveled loot that starts out in the hollow, plus what's added later (like the Raiment of the Crimson Scar), is pre-set according to what your level is when you first get the "Deepscorn Hollow" quest added to your journal.
2 of 5: This is very bad, since the quest is added as soon as you load a saved game after enabling the Vile Lair module. Worse yet, you'll almost certainly be level 1 when you get the quest if you start a new game with the module enabled.
3 of 5: The thing to do is not install the module until after you have a save with a character who's fairly high-level (30 to get the best stuff). Then install the module and load your save to get the hollow set up with high-level treasure.
4 of 5: Or if it's already too late for that, there is a way to "reset" the module and get better stuff.
5 of 5: NOTE: Some of the other modules covered in these hints do the same sort of "pre-set way ahead of time" thing with a few individual treasure chests and inventories, but nothing nearly this major.
