LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Hints
Canisters
of 16: Most of these canisters can be found only in Free Play. I will indicate specifically where canisters may also be available in Story mode.
of 16: 1) On the far left side of the very first screen, you should see some bricks that you can explode with the Dark Force.
of 16: Do so, and you will see a grappling pad as a result. Switch to a character who can grapple, then grapple onto the ledge above, and repeat from a second grappling circle. This should get you to the canister.
of 16: Use the Force on some bricks near the canister to create another grappling pad that will take you back to the main part of the level.
of 16: 2) On that same screen, closer to the front door, are some shiny metal blocks near a canister that's visible above.
of 16: Use a bounty hunter's thermal detonator to blow up those bricks and reveal a grappling circle. Then double-jump up to the ledge and jump or float over to the canister on the adjacent ledge. (I suppose it may be possible to put a Bounty Hunter helmet on Luke once you find him in Story mode, and then backtrack in the level to let him get this canister.)
of 16: 3) After you get inside the palace, but just before you open the first bounty hunter door, turn to your right, and there are some bricks on the ground that build a lock for C-3P0 to open. I don't think there's a way to get C-3P0 back to this part of the level in Story mode, but in Free Play mode, switch to him and open that door to get the canister inside.
of 16: 4) In the room where you first find Luke, there is a locked door on the left side of the room that R2-D2 can open. The canister is inside there. (Again, you might be able to backtrack in Story mode once you find R2-D2.)
of 16: 5) In the screen just after you find Luke, before you destroy the shiny metal gates, there's another canister in a cell on the right side of the screen, but the path to it's a bit complex.
of 16: 6 -- Also in Story) In a cell shortly after you destroy the first set of shiny metal gates.
of 16: There will be an explosive cylinder to your left that you can build in the next area just past those gates. Shoot it three times until it explodes and makes a hole in the wall. The canister is in the cage through that hole.
of 16: 7) In the room after the unstable floor tiles, where you find R2-D2 and C-3P0. You may be able to see the canister in the floor.
of 16: 8) On the screen where you have to slide around to make some steps up to a ledge on the outside of the room, you should see a canister in plain sight behind a grate on the wall.
of 16: 9) On the screen where you find Hans Solo in carbonite, there is a Stormtrooper door on the left side. Open it with the appropriate character and find the canister in plain sight.
of 16: 10) On the final boss fight at the end of the level, you can build a grappling pad on the right side of the screen.
of 16: Grapple up to a ledge above, and then use a double-jump to get to the canister on the next ledge up.
