Mass Effect Hints

Minimize Casualties

  • 1 of 16: Right after the creeper is killed, one of your squad will talk to you, and you'll get the chance to tell them whether or not to attack the colonists as you come across them.
  • 2 of 16: The easiest way to deal with the colonists is to kill them all, but that's the Renegade way to do things. The Paragon way is to tell your squad to leave the colonists alone so you can knock them out with grenades equipped with the Anti-Thorian Gas I upgrade.
  • 3 of 16: Open the garage door with a wall console, then start firing on all the creepers in the garage right away, backing away as needed to avoid their melee attacks. (Shotguns would be good weapons to use against them, as would the Mako if you don't mind getting less XP per kill.)
  • 4 of 16: There are several hostile colonists near the elevator to the Zhu's Hope area.
  • 5 of 16: It's hard to take them all out with one gas grenade, so you might want to use one grenade, then charge the remaining colonists and use melee attacks against them. (If, that is, you don't prefer to kill them.)
  • 6 of 16: After riding the elevator, kill the creepers just south of it, then take out the two colonists just south of them.
  • 7 of 16: When you come to the stairs, shoot down the creepers at the stair bottom, then run down the stairs to let the creepers to the south see you.
  • 8 of 16: Run back up the stairs before taking them out, then go back down the stairs and after the nearby colonists.
  • 9 of 16: After they're all down, look nearby for an upgrade kit that has five grenades in it. You'll probably need them if you've been using grenades to gas the colonists.
  • 10 of 16: Go around the area's perimeter, blasting creepers and dealing with colonists, until the area is clear. (You'll know when that is because you can't save your game until then.)
  • 11 of 16: After saving, find the freighter crane controls (marked with an "!" on the area map).
  • 12 of 16: Use them to reveal the nearby hidden entrance to the thorian's lair.
  • 13 of 16: After the cinematic, go down the stairs to get another cinematic, plus the Paragon and/or Renegade points you deserve for how you dealt with the colonists.
  • 14 of 16: Go down some more stairs and into a large room to get a conversation cinematic with a thorian-made asari clone.
  • 15 of 16: You can earn some morality points from the conversation, but it's set to always end in a fight with the asari and some thorian creepers.
  • 16 of 16: After the fight is over, you'll find that your objective is now "Destroy the Thorian."
