Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor Hints
Thief to Rogue
of 8: You will get this quest from another thief.
of 8: The Master Thief, to be exact.
of 8: William Lasker will give you the quest if you can find him. He sends you to Lord Markham's estate in Tatalia to steal a vase from his mantle, and offers you a 5,000 GP reward in addition to the promotion.
of 8: Go into Lord Markham's Manor south of the town of Tidewater, at (11050, -14920). You will have to get past the guards here to find the vase -- this can be a tricky fight for low-level parties.
of 8: The vase is in the kitchen through the door to your left as you're facing the entrance to Markham's chamber.
of 8: If you need help fighting the guards, I would recommend that you try the Berserk spell if you have it. Make sure to stand at a distance, so the nearest person to the target is another guard and not your party. Then, if you're lucky, the guards will just attack each other for a while.
of 8: If that fails, you can use the table in dining room just outside the kitchen as cover. That is, go into turn-based mode and put the table between you and the guards. As long as you keep moving in the right direction, the guards will never get close enough to attack you. You can't always attack them back either, but at least you can heal without having to worry about the guards as well. You may even be able to run away by running around the table.
of 8: If that still fails, you may just have to come back later when you have a party strong enough to fight the guards -- or at least outrun them and still have hit points to spare.
