Where can I find the Verhoffin's Diary object?
- 1 of 7: It's behind the locked door in the north central room.
- 2 of 7: The book is lying on the floor next to a chest. Use it to pick it up.
- 3 of 7: Read on if you want tips on how to get to the diary's room and nab it even with wimpy level 1 characters.
- 4 of 7: There are multiple ways to approach your goal. I'd suggest heading north from the Terror/key room and taking the west door. You'll be in a large ruined room with a north door. Save and go into turn-based mode right before going through that door since the room past it has *three* Terrors in it! You should be able to sneak through the room and out its west door safely. The Terrors usually see you just as you're leaving, so close the doors behind you to keep them from getting to you.
- 5 of 7: Now you're in a room with a single Zombie standing in the center of four pillars. Stay in turn-based mode and head all the way to the west end of that room, bypassing the room's north door for now. You need to make it far enough west to get a green danger indicator so you can save your game before proceeding. (Be sure you're out of the Zombie's line of sight when you save -- restored games never start out in turn-based mode, even if the save was made while in that mode.)
- 6 of 7: Now make your turn-based way back to that north door you went by before and go through it. You'll end up in the small room with a Zombie and the locked door in the NE corner. Carefully slide by the Zombie, open the locked door, and peek in far enough to nab the silver diary.
- 7 of 7: Now's when things can get really sticky. One or both of the Zombies have almost certainly seen you by now, so they'll be attacking you on your way out. Your best bet is probably to return to real-time mode and make a run for it, zig-zagging when you can to avoid the Zombies' powerful Wound spells. Run south for the exit, dodging the Fright that sees you as best you can, and you should make it with at least some characters intact. Whew!
