Escape from Monkey Island Hints

How do I open the big door in the mine?

  • 1 of 12: Walk up to it and look through the portal.
  • 2 of 12: You'll see a lever, but Guybrush can't reach it by himself.  He'll need someone to help him.
  • 3 of 12: Someone small.
  • 4 of 12: Timmy the monkey (from the beach where you landed) will help you out.
  • 5 of 12: Lead Timmy to the big door.  You need to get him up to the latch.
  • 6 of 12: The latch is between the vent and the portal on the other side of the door.
  • 7 of 12: First, you need to get him to the other side of the door.
  • 8 of 12: Open the vent and toss in a banana.
  • 9 of 12: Now you need to lure Timmy up to the latch (through the portal).
  • 10 of 12: If you try to put a banana in the portal, Timmy will hop back over to your side of the door.  You need to keep him on the other side.
  • 11 of 12: Remember that you had to open the vent to let him get to the other side.
  • 12 of 12: So shut the vent after he's gone through, then use the banana with the portal.
