Advanced Stealing Tips
- 1 of 4: One thing that can help extend your reach for stealing items from in front of people is the Telekinesis spell, which can be bought from Orrent Geontene in the Ald'ruhn Mages Guild, among other places. Cast that spell and then grab stuff from a distance, making sure you're still following the rule of not being in anyone's line of sight.
- 2 of 4: Telekinesis is also good for harmlessly springing traps on doors and containers. After dealing with the lock, just stand back, cast Telekinesis, and activate the door or container.
- 3 of 4: In order to get those last few hard-to-steal items that you just can't ever get safely even with Telekinesis, you need a strong Chameleon spell and a fairly high Sneak skill. Check the Treasure-Hunting Tips to find out where you can get a great amulet that can cast an 80% Chameleon, then start using it. Save right after using the amulet and before you start sneakily stealing items just in case you're caught, though you're not very likely to be.
- 4 of 4: As a last resort for nabbing items that you've just gotta have but can't get using the above methods, you can use the plain old "grab and run" method. If you use the "grab, drop, and pay fine" method, you'll end up paying the item's full value as the fine, which is usually unacceptable. So just grab it and run for the nearest Thieves guild Bounty Removal guy, who will only make you pay half of the stolen item's value, and won't confiscate anything from you.
