How can I make constant effect spells?
- 1 of 12: Go to any spellmaker and make a new spell with the following specs:
Soultrap - Range: Target, Duration: 1, Area: 0
<spell> - Range: Self, Magnitude: 1 to 1, Duration: 1 - 2 of 12: You replace <spell> with whatever spell effect you want to have on you permanently.
- 3 of 12: For instance, to create a spell that you can cast over and over to add a permanent +1 to your Strength attribute each time, you'd replace <spell> with Fortify Attribute (and choose Strength from the attribute list).
- 4 of 12: If you don't want to have to cast the spell over and over again to get a big increase, you can increase its Magnitude fields. However, note that doing so will make the spell more expensive to buy and harder to cast successfully.
- 5 of 12: Naturally, this whole routine will only work on spells that can be cast on "Self." Spells such as the Absorb spells can't be used with this since they can't ever target "Self".
- 6 of 12: Not every spell that can be put on "Self" will work. The most disappointing failures are Restore Health, Reflect, and Spell Absorption.
- 7 of 12: The useful spells that do work fairly well include (but are not limited to): Night Eye, Levitate, various Fortify spells, Invisibility, Chameleon, various Resist spells, Telekinesis, Sanctuary, Shield, Water Breathing, and the Summon spells.
- 8 of 12: WARNING: Don't be aiming at anyone while casting these spells, or they'll see it as an attack and turn hostile. Be sure you're facing a wall, table, floor, or something else inanimate. For Summon spells, you have to be facing straight down at the floor beneath you to keep your summoned creature from vanishing right away.
- 9 of 12: Some of the spells' effects can be adjusted by using the PC Cheat Codes. For instance, if you pumped up your magicka resistance by casting a permanent spell of Resist Magicka over and over, you can reset it to zero or whatever with the "player->setresistmagicka" command. Or if you have a permanent Levitate on, set "player->setflying" to 0 and then cast a regular Levitate spell that will wear off quickly.
- 10 of 12: Attribute and skill enhancements gotten from this kind of spell will disappear if those attributes and skills are ever drained and then restored. Fortunately, you'll be able to cast your spells again to get them back up to where you want them.
- 11 of 12: As for summoned creatures, they'll stay permanent until you or someone else kills them. When they die, they don't vanish, so you can loot their bodies for goods.
- 12 of 12: That makes it easy to "go fishing" for Daedric tower shields and other great gear -- create a permanent spell to summon a Golden Saint, cast it while facing straight down, then kill and loot the saint. Keep this up until you have all you want. (You can also use this to trap souls for enchanting.)
