How do I skip all that?
- 1 of 7: All of the main quests that lead up to the meeting with Vivec are just done to get you there to obtain Wraithguard, so why not infiltrate the Palace of Vivec early and kill him for Wraithguard?
- 2 of 7: Yes, kill him. Sure, he's sort of a god, but don't forget what you've learned about how he's really a mortal who screwed around with the heart of a true god. The powers he got from that aren't enough to make him utterly invincible, but he's undoubtedly the toughest single opponent in the game that you can actually kill in regular combat.
- 3 of 7: If you can manage it, you'll be able to take Wraithguard from his dead body.
- 4 of 7: However, since he didn't get the chance to teach you to use it, you won't know how, and it'll just register as a unique (and unusable) Dwemer artifact.
- 5 of 7: You'll have to do a special quest to figure out how to get it working as Wraithguard if you want to continue playing this way.
- 6 of 7: Once Wraithguard is working as it would in the regular main quest sequence (except that it's now a left-handed gauntlet instead of a right-handed one), you can pick up the quest line with "The Citadels of the Sixth House" and finish the game quickly.
- 7 of 7: NOTE: You could get one Wraithguard using the first shortcut and then get another one this way. You'll even be able to wear both of them at once!
