Glitch Tip
  • 1 of 10: Before you talk to Gravius and get the first main quest, you can explore Seyda Neen and other areas while still under the lenient rules of the character creation process.
  • 2 of 10: In the outdoor area between the two Census and Excise buildings, move into the corner to the left of the barrel where the stone wall meets the building.
  • 3 of 10: By jumping there, you should be able to glitch through the building wall and get out to the main Seyda Neen area.
  • 4 of 10: However, you can't just kill anyone or steal anything indiscriminately -- you can still be killed by an enraged shopkeeper or a town guard who isn't following the rules.
  • 5 of 10: The main use for this glitch is to go around lockpicking the doors on houses that are very hard to lockpick unseen. The guards will usually just give you a warning, though one of them may draw his sword and kill you if you push this too far.
  • 6 of 10: You can get a better lockpick from the locked chest in Draren Thiralas' house. That'll help with some of the tougher locks, though you'll still need a good starting Security skill.
  • 7 of 10: You could sell some Census office loot to Arrille and then take the silt strider to other towns and take advantage of your situation there, but that just increases the danger that the game might crash or someone might kill you. Since you can't save your game yet, you could end up losing all your progress and have to totally start over.
  • 8 of 10: On the other hand, a quick trip to Balmora can pay off if you stick to shops with guards in them and use the "multi-steal" technique described in the earlier Stealing Tip. Be sure to let the shop's guard get ahold of you before the shopkeeper does! (This is particularly useful in getting the valuable orcish armor that Meldor has behind the counter in his armorer shop.)
  • 9 of 10: When you're ready, return to Sellus Gravius' office and talk to him.
  • 10 of 10: NOTE: If you sold your Release Identification paper somewhere, you'll have to go buy it back before Gravius will give you your quest items.
