The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints

Mephala's Quest

  • 1 of 11: This shrine quest is a little different since it doesn't involve any statues or ancient monster-infested Daedric ruins.
  • 2 of 11: Talk to Taros Dral about "sensitive matters." He's in the Morag Tong HQ area, which is where the faction sign-up guy is.
  • 3 of 11: Dral wants you to go to Balmora City and poison someone named Balyn Omavel.
  • 4 of 11: He gives you five specially-treated bittergreen petals to do the poisoning with, so take them and do the dirty deed.
  • 5 of 11: NOTE: If you accidentally sell the special petals and can't find them again, press ~ to get the PC console window and type:

    player->additem "ingred_treated_bittergreen_uniq" 5
  • 6 of 11: You'll find Omavel's house in the east section of town, but don't approach his front door (which is up some stairs from another locked house). If he sees you up there, it'll ruin the quest.
  • 7 of 11: Instead, go up the stairs to the left of Caius Cosades' door and jump across to Omavel's roof. You can pick the lock on the trap door there with much less chance of being seen.
  • 8 of 11: Once inside, find a cooking pot that registers as "Balyn's Cauldron."
  • 9 of 11: Activate it and say "yes" to put the poison into the cauldron, then leave via the trap door.
  • 10 of 11: When you return to report success to Dral, he'll say that Mephala wants to speak to you directly.
  • 11 of 11: Enter the room behind him and activate the altar to get a message from Mephala, plus the very valuable Ring of Khajiit.
