The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints
Yagrum Bagarn and Wraithguard
of 11: Since Wraithguard is a Dwemer artifact, why not consult the only surviving member of that race?
of 11: Go visit Yagrum Bagarn in the Corprusarium Bowels in Tel Fyr (location 4 on the Tel Aruhn map).
of 11: He'll immediately notice the artifact that you're carrying, so ask him about "unique dwemer artifact" and "mythopoeic enchantments."
of 11: Ask if he can restore the artifact and then try to convince him to do it.
of 11: Bagarn will then say that since he wasn't part of Kagrenac's project way back when, he'll need Kagrenac's journal and planbook in order to figure out how to activate Wraithguard.
of 11: Return to Bagarn with those two volumes and talk to him about "mythopoeic enchantments" again.
of 11: He'll say to come back in a day and see what he's learned, but the real requirement here is that your current hit point total be 220 or more.
of 11: You may have to go adventure some more (and train your major and minor skills with trainers) until you can level up to where your max HP is 220 or more. (Or you can use Fortify Health potions and spells for a temporary current HP boost to 220.)
of 11: Then talk to him once more about "mythopoeic enchantments" and tell him you want to activate Wraithguard. He'll do it, and you'll now have a wearable magic gauntlet in your inventory called Wraithguard.
of 11: Unfortunately, the 220 HP requirement wasn't just for show. You may not notice it right away if you're at full health, but readying this jury-rigged Wraithguard the first time will *permanently* take nearly 220 off of both your current and max HP totals!
of 11: If you're not a big, tough 700-HP warrior to begin with, you could end up in very big trouble indeed. (However, you don't *have* to use Wraithguard until the very end of the final main quest, so you could just stow it somewhere safe and do a lot more leveling up before you put it on for the first time.)
