The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints
Magic Spells
1 of 5: The Mark and Recall spells work kind of like Lloyd's Beacon in the Might and Magic games. You cast Mark to set a beacon at your current location, and then cast Recall from elsewhere to teleport to where you set the beacon. However, you don't get a beacon list -- each casting of Mark overwrites the last beacon with the new one. You can get these spells early in the game by traveling to the Mages Guild in Vivec and buying them from Sirilonwe.
2 of 5: I found that the most useful location to set and leave a Mark is right next to the Creeper in Ghorak Manor in Caldera. That way, when I overload myself with valuable goodies on a raid, I can just cast Recall to zap straight to the Creeper and sell him some stuff (and drop the rest on the floor near him for later sale). This is also a convenient location since Ghorak Manor is just a short jog from a Mages Guild and its teleporter service. (Note that teleporting to Vivec's Mages Guild gets you close to both boat and silt strider services for when you need those.)
3 of 5: The spell Divine Intervention will teleport you to the nearest Imperial Cult shrine, and Almsivi Intervention will teleport you to the nearest Temple shrine. If you're not sure where the nearest shrine is to your location, save your game before casting in case you end up somewhere you don't want to be.
4 of 5: The Levitate spell can be used to fly easily over the most rugged of terrain, thereby greatly speeding up travel. One way to get a really great Levitate effect put on you is to obtain a cheap Rising Force potion and then visit the Grace of Daring shrine in Vivec.
5 of 5: In order to vastly increase the speed at which a cheap Levitate spell will let you move, get and equip the Boots of Blinding Speed from the Ald-ruhn misc. quest "Pemenie and the Boots of Blinding Speed." Once you have those, you could enchant a clothing item to have a constant Levitate effect of just 1 point. You can then equip the boots and cheap Levitate item whenever you want to zoom across the countryside. The only problem is that all constant effect enchantments require a top-level soul gem. See my Enchanting Tips for more information about enchanting and soul gems.
