Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express Hints

How do I get the heat turned back on?

  • 1 of 9: This being 1934, the engine is steam. The way the cars are heated is the steam from the engine is routed via pipes down the length of the train. A piece of that pipe is broken, and the steam is escaping before it reaches the cars. So what you need is a piece of heat-resistant pipe to replace it.
  • 2 of 9: Which you won't find on the train. You're going to need to get out and explore the countryside to find what you need.
  • 3 of 9: But before you go, you'll need a pair of pliers and a pair of heatproof gloves, both of which can be found in the Athens-Paris car.
  • 4 of 9: The gloves are in room 3-4; the pliers are in the bathroom cabinet between rooms 5-6 and 7-8. (Incidently, that's the only thing to be found in any of the bathrooms, so you don't need to search them all.)
  • 5 of 9: Now go outside using the back door of the Athens-Paris car, go right, and then go forward twice. You're now in the wilderness. Enjoy!
  • 6 of 9: You're trying to reach what Antoinette calls a shepherd's hut.
  • 7 of 9: Once you're inside the hut, go downscreen to find an old-fashioned wood stove. Use the pliers to take a piece of the stovepipe. At last!
  • 8 of 9: Now go back to the train, but don't go inside; instead, walk to the engine. The car just behind the engine has steam coming from under it; click on it to look closely at it.
  • 9 of 9: Use the piece of pipe on the space where the steam is escaping, and hurrah! We have heat.
