Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express Hints

How do I collect fingerprints from people?

  • 1 of 12: First you need to get them warmed up enough to talk to you.
  • 2 of 12: Once that's done, you need three things: some ink to put on their fingers, some cards to put the fingerprints on, and some napkins to get the ink back off their fingers.
  • 3 of 12: The napkins are the easiest. Where would you expect to find a large supply of small paper napkins?
  • 4 of 12: You can find a big pile of cocktail napkins in the salon car, in a drawer behind the bar.
  • 5 of 12: As for ink, you won't find any bottles of ink on the train.
  • 6 of 12: Who writes with a dip pen anymore anyway? People nowadays use a typewriter.
  • 7 of 12: Say, Hardman said he sells typewriter ribbons, didn't he?
  • 8 of 12: Check Hardman's room in the Calais car and open the case sitting on the seat to find a bunch of typewriter ribbons; take one.
  • 9 of 12: Finally, you need a pile of fingerprint cards. You can probably guess no one on this train has any, so any pile of cards or stiff paper will do.
  • 10 of 12: Try the restaurant car.
  • 11 of 12: On the buffet table (where you got the alcohol lamp for the burnt paper thing), there's a pile of menu cards. Take them; they'll do fine.
  • 12 of 12: Once you have all three objects -- napkins, typewriter ribbon, and menu cards -- go talk to everyone in the train, including staff, and select the conversation option about fingerprints. You can keep track of whose fingerprints you've collected by clicking on the Suspects button in the inventory.
