Myst IV: Revelation Hints
How do I work the control panels?
of 11: The control panels begin in the closed position. To open either one, press the button at the bottom left corner of the panel.
of 11: When you begin (either panel), the circuit to the control panel is open.
of 11: You'll need to close the circuit by pressing down the switch on the left side of the panel (it is located in the center of a nearly complete circle of lights).
of 11: The only other control is a slider switch. You can drag it left or right.
of 11: Moving the slider will either cause lights on the control panel to turn on or off -- depending on which position the slider is moved to.
of 11: You cannot skip a position with the slider. For example, you cannot move the slider from the far left to the far right without stopping the slider in the center position.
of 11: It is also not possible to use the same position twice in a row. For example, you cannot move the switch a small amount from the left-most position, then try to move it back again without using the center position.
of 11: Each position that the switch can be moved into (left, right, or center) will always turn on (or off) the same number of lights. For example, if the right-most position (of one of the control panels) turns on two lights, moving the slider to the right-most position will always turn on two lights (for that control panel -- not necessarily for the other one).
of 11: With each move, some lights are turned on around the circuit to the left (where you first clicked the lever to begin).
of 11: When all the lights around the circuit are on, the control panel will automatically transfer all the activated lights into the alternate set of lights along the back of the panel. The number of moves with the slider will always be the same -- for that panel. However, that number is different from one panel to the other.
of 11: The number of activated lights along the back of the panel indicates how much power the control panel is generating.
