Myst V: End of Ages Hints
There's a ladder that I can't climb just outside the cave.
of 9: If you're not able to climb the ladder, notice what else you see when you do try to climb it.
of 9: You lift your slate briefly, reminding you that you can't carry something as heavy as the slate while climbing ladders.
of 9: So if you wanted to, you could drop the slate and then climb the ladder.
of 9: In fact, you should do that now and explore -- maybe there's another way you can get the slate up here.
of 9: When you reach the top of the ladder, you should see a pedestal -- it's not as large as the pedestals you've seen back at the start of the age and in Direbo, but it's still a pedestal.
of 9: And it has a symbol on it that looks like it's meant to be drawn in something that's the same shape as your slate. (The symbol itself looks a bit like an anchor, with a vertical line on top and a semi-circle below that.)
of 9: Didn't Esher say that you could use the slate to command the Bahro if you dropped it?
of 9: Once you've drawn the anchor symbol, drop the slate on the ground, step back a bit, and wait for a Bahro to arrive. If you've drawn the correct symbol, the Bahro will carry your slate for you, up to the pedestal with the corresponding symbol.
