Nancy Drew: Ransom of the Seven Ships Hints
What can I do with Coucou?
1 of 6: Coucou, like her grandmother Loulou (from Nancy Drew #11, "Curse of Blackmoor Manor"), is helpful to juniors and just comic relief to seniors.
2 of 6: That is, if you're playing in Junior mode, she'll give you a hint if you give her something to eat. If you're playing in Senior mode, she'll do a trick for you, and while her tricks aren't anything special, seeing all of them will get you one of the stars at the end of the game.
3 of 6: What Coucou wants to eat is fruit, or more specifically guavas. You can find three guavas in a fruit bowl at the front desk, which George will produce some time after your first trip out to Shark Cove; they're the small yellow things that look a little like plums.
4 of 6: After those run out, you can get more from the monkeys at the Monkey Center by winning their games.
5 of 6: In addition, late in the game, you'll discover that you need Coucou's perch for a puzzle. For this, she demands both a guava and something else, so you might want to keep a guava in reserve for this.
6 of 6: If you want hints but are having trouble getting more guavas, there's a little trick you can do to get a hint for free. What you do is walk up to Coucou and save your game, then give her a treat and get your hint. Then load in the saved game, and you still have all your fruit. Nyah-ah-ah!
