Nancy Drew 28: Ghost of Thornton Hall Hints
How do I recharge Jessalyn's phone?
of 13: If you remember, the phone's charger got broken somehow, and we'll just assume Nancy's phone has a different kind of charger. You'll need to find or make a new charger --
of 13: -- and in this instance, you'll have to make one, oy! But it's really a lot easier than you think (and a lot easier than it would be in real life, I'm thinking). Read to the end of this hint for step-by-step directions.
of 13: There's a book in the main house that will give you all kinds of help here -- go down the hall and turn left under the stairs to find the tool room.
of 13: The book on the work bench is called, "Electricity Manual For Making Batteries With Common Household Items." Man, isn't that a coincidence!
of 13: The book has a number of different schemes; the one you want is on page 4, the one labeled "Fruit."
of 13: You need nails, pennies, citrus fruit, and wires with clips on the end. It's all in the house here, if you know where to look.
of 13: The wires with clips are in a jar on the same worktable with the battery book. Leave them there till you have all the rest of the stuff.
of 13: You can find a basket full of oranges in the parlor, on the table with the tea makings next to the door.
of 13: There's a jar full of pennies in a jar in the workshop; look on the table in the middle of the room with the toppled movie projector.
of 13: Nails are also in the tool room, though they're kind of hard to see --
of 13: -- look at the wall to the left of the worktable where you found the electricity manual. You'll need a hammer to pull the nails out of the wall, and you can find one on the porch. (Walk up to the porch swing, then turn around and see the red-handled hammer on the column at the left.)
of 13: Assembling the battery is easy, once you have all the parts. Put the oranges on the table; add the nails and then the pennies; then click on the wires in the jar. All done!
of 13: Now all you need is time. Go talk to everyone else in the game, including your phone buddies, and check back here occasionally. It takes ... well, a long time, which I think is only realistic.
