Nancy Drew: Danger By Design Hints
What do I do with the thing I found behind the panel?
of 13: This is Noisette Tornade's journal. Wow!
of 13: Obviously she had a thing for codes. You need some kind of a reference about codes to help here --
of 13: -- which you'll find at the flea market. After you've read the book on codes and ciphers, examine the journal carefully to see what it means.
of 13: Just inside the front cover of the journal, there's a red grid. Click on it to put it in your inventory separate from the journal. Do you see anything in the code book that looks like this?
of 13: On pages 11 and 12, it talks about a dot cipher -- which uses a grid just like this one. Cool! Set it aside till you get the other piece, random-looking dots on a page.
of 13: Finally, turn the page to find a letter insert in the journal. It's pretty straightforward, except for the last line.
of 13: This one isn't too hard; the letter tells you that it's a shift cipher (read pages 8-10 in the coding book) using 109 RUS. Forget the RUS part and just use the number 109. Can you follow the book's instructions and decode the line yourself?
of 13: Write out the coded line (FOFC LLBK ENIJDTKD), then under it write 1091091091091091, one number for each letter. Then advance the letters that number of letters using the letter wheel on page 9 in the code book. For example, the first letter is F, and there's a 1 under it. One letter on from F is G -- so the first letter is G.
