Nancy Drew: Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake Hints
What do I do with the spigots?
1 of 9: You cannot do anything interesting with the spigots at first, as they appear to be locked.
2 of 9: Now that the spigots are unlocked, examine them carefully and experiment with them. What do you see?
3 of 9: You may have noticed that each spigot has a handle, a red button, a numerical display, and a rotating block displaying one letter at a time. The letters of the four spigots currently spell "S O D A". Each numeral displayed is a "0". Pulling the handle once changes the numerical display to a "1". Pulling it again changes it to a 2", and so on, until you change it to a "6" and no further pulls change the display. Pushing the red button causes the rotating block to advance, displaying different letters until it rests on a new letter. It seems to advance the number of times shown in the numerical display, plus two. For example, pulling the handle once to change the numerical display to a "1", then pushing the red button, causes the rotating block to advance three times (1 + 2) to a new letter. Pulling the handle six times to change the numerical display to a "6", then pushing the red button, causes the rotating block to advance eight times (6 + 2) to another new letter.
4 of 9: You need to know more about what the rotating blocks are capable of displaying.
5 of 9: It might help to work this puzzle out on paper. Write down the letters that can be displayed by each rotating block, in the order that they appear around the block.
6 of 9: Examine the diagram carefully, circling the letters you start with and the letters you wish to end with, and determine the number of times each block needs to rotate in order to reach that letter.
7 of 9: Before you get stated, you must have a goal in mind. You just need to determine what to spell, or rather, what four letters should appear on the spigots.
