Nancy Drew: The Haunted Carousel Hints

What do I learn from the letter?

  • 1 of 6: The letter is a sad one, written by the mysterious genius Rolfe Kessler to his wife Amelia.  She had left him earlier, as you learned from Professor Sukov's article in Elliott's magazine.
  • 2 of 6: In the letter, Kessler begs Amelia to return to him.  However, you notice that the letter isn't postmarked.  Kessler never had the courage to mail the letter.  Amelia never returned.
  • 3 of 6: You learn other interesting things from the letter.  You learn that one of Kessler's carousel horses was named Foxfire.  This must certainly be a horse on the carousel at Captain's Cove Amusement Park.   Perhaps that is the name of Joy's favorite black horse?
  • 4 of 6: You also learn that Kessler wrote the letter while working in his workshop, and he mentions hearing ballroom dancers above him.  Apparently his workshop was under a ballroom.  You remember from Professor Sukov's article that Kessler occasionally had a workshop built on the premises of his carousel horses.  Perhaps one of his workshops was here at Captain's Cove?  Does Captain's Cove Amusement Park have a ballroom?
  • 5 of 6: Do you remember learning something about a ballroom when you were first investigating the park office?
  • 6 of 6: The old Galaxy Ballroom at Captain's Cove Amusement Park is now the Demons of the Deep Haunted House.  The workshop must be somewhere in the haunted house.  And Kessler says, "The radiator still stands guard outside the door to my workshop."
