Nine: The Last Resort Hints

Salty can't beat Oswald!

  • 1 of 33: On his first encounter, Salty will give it a valiant effort, but will not be able to win a dogfight against Oswald.
  • 2 of 33: After the initial combat sequence, you can try to open the doors again by yourself, but the chain and Oswald will bar your entrance.
  • 3 of 33: Salty is the only one who can help you here.  He must somehow gain enough power to overcome Oswald.
  • 4 of 33: Salty mentions something about the "old thunder" that might help.
  • 5 of 33: Specifically, he says, "I wish I knew how to get the old thunder back."
  • 6 of 33: "Old Thunder"?  Thunder is loud sound.
  • 7 of 33: Have you found anything so far in the Last Resort that could produce some sounds that might energize Salty?
  • 8 of 33: No, I'm afraid he is not into organ music.  Keep searching for something else that can play music.
  • 9 of 33: Have you been up the staircase to the second floor yet?
  • 10 of 33: Have you checked out the old Victrola?
  • 11 of 33: The Victrola might be able to play a record that Salty would like.
  • 12 of 33: Have you read the label on the record that is on the turntable of the Victrola?
  • 13 of 33: It says "War Sounds, F-X."
  • 14 of 33: This sounds right up Salty's alley.
  • 15 of 33: But which track should be played?
  • 16 of 33: The slider on the right controls which tracks of the record are played (not the speed of the turntable!)
  • 17 of 33: One of the tracks might be particularly helpful.
  • 18 of 33: Something related to Salty's dogfighting ability would be ideal, since Oswald nearly shot his tail off last time.
  • 19 of 33: You could play all the tracks one by one and see if any of them is helpful, but this may take quite a while.
  • 20 of 33: There might be a title listing of all the tracks on this record somewhere else in the Mansion.
  • 21 of 33: Track titles are often listed on the backs of album covers.
  • 22 of 33: Where have you seen some album covers?
  • 23 of 33: Have you examined all the gold record/album cover plaques on the walls of the Lobby?
  • 24 of 33: One of them might have the album cover for this record.
  • 25 of 33: Look on the wall next to Isadora.
  • 26 of 33: To the right.
  • 27 of 33: It's the War Sounds F-X album!
  • 28 of 33: Grab the album cover and flip it over to get a listing of all the tracks.
  • 29 of 33: Is there one on there that you think might be good for Salty?
  • 30 of 33: How about the starred track that has "Thunder!" written in the sidebar?
  • 31 of 33: Play this track on the Victrola. (The number of the track changes from game to game.)
  • 32 of 33: If you have chosen the correct track, you will hear "Flight of the Valkries" play and Salty will go berserk.
  • 33 of 33: The next time you go to the room with the brown doors, Oswald will no longer be a problem.
