Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark Hints
Defeating the Valsharess
1 of 8: This is the main quest that you start Chapter 2 with.
2 of 8: The Valsharess has taken advantage of the goddess Lolth's disappearance to consort with demons and build a vast army of Underdark dwellers for conquest. Not quite every denizen of the underground has joined the Valsharess, but an overwhelming majority of them have.
3 of 8: The surviving resistance members are all at Lith My'athar, where they plan to make a stand against the evil hordes. It's up to you to increase their chances of success by gaining new allies and convincing old allies of the Valsharess to abandon her.
4 of 8: To learn of all five of the major opportunities in the area (and get the related quests added to the quest journal), talk to Nathyrra and Valen Shadowbreath about what they know of the Valsharess and her doings.
5 of 8: In order to strengthen Lith My'athar to the point where it has a chance of withstanding the Valsharess' attack, you have to complete four of the five quests. You can pick any four and do them in any order, but the strange island town one and the illithid one kind of go together, so it's better to plan on doing both of those plus two others of your choice.
6 of 8: If you really want to do all five, there is a way. Your progress toward the goal of four quest completions is only checked when you enter the Lith My'athar City Core & Port outdoor area. You could decide ahead of time which of the five quests you want to do last and go set a teleport point at the beginning of its area using the Relic of the Reaper. That way you can teleport straight there after returning to the Temple of Lolth and reporting success on your fourth quest completion. (Note that teleporting in and out of the temple and talking to the Seer *won't* trigger a quest count check. Just don't walk outside through the temple's door!)
7 of 8: Before you finish all that, you also might want to do the misc. quest that deals with the matron of House Maeviir.
8 of 8: Anyway, the first time you enter the Lith My'athar City Core & Port area after completing four or more of the above main quests, you'll automatically be taken to the Seer and then to a room for the night. It's then that what I call the "Chapter 2 Finale" begins. See its hints to learn how to finish up the chapter.
