Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark Hints
How do I get to the Elder Brain to kill it or strike a deal?
of 9: First, either fight your way through the entrance cavern and into Zorvak'Mur, or bluff your way in peacefully.
of 9: Once you're in the main Zorvak'Mur city area, make your way to the SE section.
of 9: If you're going peacefully, talk to the mind flayer venerator there and ask to speak to the Elder Brain about the Valsharess. He'll agree as long as you leave your Helm of Shielding behind.
of 9: Agree to leave the helm (you'll get it back soon), and then step onto the big teleporter circle near the venerator and wait. You'll be transported straight to the Elder Brain's room in the Great Hall for a quick conference.
of 9: The Elder Brain will tell you that the only way to remove the Valsharess' illithid support is to convince the entire Elder Concorde that rules all of the illithid cities and colonies to withdraw their support.
of 9: The Elder Brain further explains that the only way that's gonna happen is if you give him the powerful artifact that's obtainable in the Shaori's Fell region (the strange town on an island that the boatman in Lith My'athar can take you to).
of 9: If you already have the Mirror of All-Seeing, hand it over to immediately remove all illithid support from the upcoming chapter finale battles. Otherwise, agree to get it, and then go do so and return with it.
of 9: If you've been fighting your way in, the Elder Brain is going to be a *lot* harder to get to. Once you take the teleporter to the Great Hall, you'll have to deal with illithids and their servants, illusions of things like adult red dragons, blade barriers, doors that make you solve math problems, etc. After all that, the end result is the same: the Elder Brain offers you a deal whereby you trade the Mirror of All-Seeing for the illithid's withdrawal from the upcoming battles.
of 9: NOTE: If you want to go on using the Mirror of All-Seeing's spellcasting abilities after giving it to the Elder Brain, you can buy a copy of it for about $1,000 from the pool in the Reaper's realm.
