Neverwinter Nights: Kingmaker Hints
Henchman Notes
of 10: You need to not only keep yourself healthy and well-equipped, but your henchmen as well.
of 10: Give them the best armor and weapons they can use, and also give them any magic clothing items (rings, cloaks, etc.) that help boost their skills, AC, saving throws, and so on.
of 10: Keep them well-stocked in healing potions, since they automatically use them during battle when significantly injured. Three Cure Critical Wounds potions may occasionally appear in their inventories, but you can't count on that happening often enough.
of 10: You can drop your henchmen temporarily by right-clicking on them (or their portraits) and choosing "More Actions" and then "Remove From Party." You can later return to where you left them and talk to them to get them to rejoin you.
of 10: The only reason to ever remove them would be if you wanted to get more XP from a combat that you were sure you could handle all by yourself. If you just want your henchmen to stand at a certain spot so that you can lead monsters back to them a few at a time, you can use the "Stand Your Ground" option instead.
of 10: You can stop and talk to your henchmen every now and then about their pasts to get interesting stories. You'll also get henchmen interaction dialogue in several spots as you move around and explore areas.
of 10: If you have Kaidala with you, you'll get a special little quest dealing with her sooner or later.
of 10: When you have items that you can't identify, try talking to both your henchmen to see if you can ask either of them to identify your equipment for you. A henchman will have that dialogue option if his or her Lore skill is higher than yours. (Note that Jaboli is the best for this.)
of 10: To help boost someone's Lore skill, have him wear the Ring of Insight when you find it during the course of the Invaders in the Keep side quest, plus any items that you find or buy that boost Intelligence.
