Neverwinter Nights: ShadowGuard Hints
Side Quest: The Gnome's Experiment
of 10: Find Janthos the Inventor in the center of the southern part of the Imperial District and talk to him.
of 10: He'll mention that he needs a new power source in order to enhance his constructs' abilities, but he doesn't know what to use.
of 10: If your Lore skill is high enough, you'll get a Lore-related dialogue topic in which you suggest that he use irilium.
of 10: He'll then assign you to find him some irilium crystals, which are rare in these parts.
of 10: He refers you to the Market District, so start your search there.
of 10: Ask Sevanna about irilium crystals to find that she has some she'll sell for 60 gold.
of 10: You can hand over the 60 gold or try to bargain her down with Persuade dialogue options.
of 10: Or you can pass on it and then lockpick or bash open her nearby chest to get the crystals plus a few other items.
of 10: Return to Janthos with the crystals and hand them over to finish the quest and get paid. (Note that you can persuade more than 100 gold from him, but you'll get 5 evil alignment points for doing so.)
of 10: TIP: At some point before you turn the crystals over to Janthos, talk to Alia and agree to let her sabotage the crystals. That sounds bad, and sort of is (it'll get you 5 lawful evil points), but it will keep you from having to fight Janthos' constructs later in the game.
