Rumgut Needs a Wife
1 of 13: Start on this quest by talking to Nathan Hurst, who's standing just outside the Hurst Farmhold on the east edge of the Hilltop Foothills area.
2 of 13: A hill giant named Rumgut kidnapped his daughter and carried her off to his cave, and it's up to you (as usual) to rescue her.
3 of 13: Find Rumgut's cave over on the west side of the map, but save before you enter. You have lots of options for dealing with Rumgut, and he'll assault you (verbally) when you first enter.
4 of 13: The most obvious way of dealing with the problem is to kill Rumgut, but this is very hard unless you're playing through SoU with a level-20 character that you imported from the end of the main NWN campaign. However, it can be done with a lesser character if you do it just right.
5 of 13: Another way is to successfully persuade him that Becka will never "grow up" into a suitable giant-sized wife.
6 of 13: Roguish characters might want to talk to Becka and either have her feed him a bunch of stew and put him to sleep, or poison and kill him (this requires an item such as choking powder and a successful Craft Trap skill check). Note that some choking powder can be found in a barrel inside the Hurst home if you want to go that route.
7 of 13: Either way, exit and reenter the cave to get the giant fed. His key to the cage will be in the debris pile that's next to his sleeping mat. (If you only put him to sleep, you'll have to go into stealth mode and sneak over to the debris to steal the key. Several Move Silently checks will be made during this process.)
8 of 13: Your other main option is to get thrown into the cage with Becka and plot an escape from in there.
9 of 13: There are several ways to get put in the cage. You can challenge Rumgut to a drinking contest and either lose or let him catch you pouring wine on the floor. (Note that if you win the contest, he'll go to sleep and you can steal his key from the debris.) You could also get tossed in the cage by trying and failing to persuade him to give up on Becka ever growing tall.
10 of 13: Once you're in the cage, a rat will appear.
11 of 13: It won't attack, so just reassure Becka and then click on the nearby pile of stones to find an escape route.
12 of 13: Exit through it, then make your way back to the Hurst Farmhold.
13 of 13: Talk to Nathan Hurst to get your reward of an Amulet of Natural Armor +1.
