How can I use the machine in the room next to the sphinx's?

  • 1 of 7: Talk to the sphinx about it.
  • 2 of 7: You don't have to, but he'll give you some clues about how to use it.
  • 3 of 7: And so will deciphering the runes on the six pillars in the room.
  • 4 of 7: The basics of the thing are this:

    * The machine can be used once to create a magic item.
    * The magic item will be able to cast one offensive spell and one defensive spell when used.
    * Which spells it can cast are determined by what reagents you put into the two urns before activating the machine.
    * The left urn (as you face the machine) is the defensive urn, and the right one is the offensive urn.
    * Many of the reagents you need can be found in various places in the ruins.
  • 5 of 7: The six rune pillars give you the info on the six reagents and how they're used in the offensive and defensive urns. Also, the sphinx gives you a bit of this info if you answer his riddles correctly.
  • 6 of 7: Here are lists of what you can put into the urns and what effect doing so has on the created power stone.
  • 7 of 7: For example, to create a power stone that would cast an AOE (area of effect) instant kill spell on your enemies and put Stoneskin on you, you'd put 10 slaad tongues in the offensive (right) urn and one vial of dragon blood in the defensive (left) urn, and then click on the machine to activate it.
