Neverwinter Nights Hints

The Ruins of Illusk

  • 1 of 17: This quest starts when you click on the glowing statue near the SW corner of the docks area.
  • 2 of 17: Go through the locked door right next to the statue to get into the ruined house.
  • 3 of 17: There are stairs down to level 1 of the Ruins of Illusk in the house, but you'll have to figure out how to break the first seal in order to go down them.
  • 4 of 17: First things first. Kill that aggressive skeleton that attacks you.
  • 5 of 17: Searching his treasure bag, you'll find his skull.
  • 6 of 17: Put it on the altar near the barred stairs to break the first seal.
  • 7 of 17: Now descend to level 1 and do something similar to break the second seal.
  • 8 of 17: Find the "fallen hero" in the SE room and kill him.
  • 9 of 17: Take his heart from his treasure bag and put it on the hand-shaped altar near the next set of barred stairs.
  • 10 of 17: Down you go to level 2.
  • 11 of 17: Head up to the NW room and kill the very tough water elemental guardian there.
  • 12 of 17: Get the blessed water off the guardian's remains and put it on the nearby altar to gain access to the third and final level.
  • 13 of 17: Your overall purpose here is to kill the undead wizard Voleron, so head south to find him and lots of his allies.
  • 14 of 17: This is one of the toughest battles so far. If you need extra help, see my Combat Tips, particularly the ones about retreating and drawing a few monsters out at a time, and using the Stone of Recall to relax and heal up in the middle of battle.
  • 15 of 17: Once you finally manage to kill Voleron, the quest is over.
  • 16 of 17: You can continue to run around and loot the place, if you want. There are *three* boss treasure chests in Voleron's room alone!
  • 17 of 17: Use the yellow swirl teleporter behind Voleron's big structure to exit when you're done.
