Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer Hints
What are the consequences of devouring Myrkul's spirit?
of 16: You'll get a lot of spirit energy, and your spirit craving will jump straight to the max setting.
of 16: You'll also get a Myrkul's Essence item in inventory which can theoretically be used on a Myrkul-blessed weapon to enhance it. (However, such a weapon doesn't really exist in v1.10 of the game.)
of 16: And you'll have a new spirit-eater feat called Ravenous Incarnation. Using it will polymorph you into a dark creature whose attacks can do several cool things, like paralyzing enemies and draining spirit energy from them.
of 16: NOTE: If you have the Eternal Rest feat and use it instead of Devour Spirit, your craving won't go up, but you won't get the Ravenous Incarnation feat, either.
of 16: Another Myrkul-slurping consequence is that all of the knights below will turn hostile, and you'll have to fight them.
of 16: They can be a *major* problem, so if you're going to go this route, there are several things you should do to prepare.
of 16: One is to say farewell to Myrkul after your conversation is over instead of devouring him right away.
of 16: Go back to the base of the spine and rest for eight hours to heal up and rememorize spells.
of 16: After buffing everyone up (especially against fire damage), broadcast the "Stand Your Ground" command to keep everyone else down with the knights.
of 16: Go devour Myrkul, and pause the game the instant you regain control.
of 16: Broadcast the "Attack Nearest" command, then get down there and start hacking on the knights yourself. (Or use the Lyonsbane Ring or Bestow Life Force feat to resurrect people as they fall.)
of 16: Even with all that, the fight may still be totally unmanageable, in which case you'll want to set up a way to skip it.
of 16: Have all of your companions stand their ground next to the new portal that's near the knights, then devour Myrkul's spirit and pause the game.
of 16: Switch to the character nearest the portal, click on it, and unpause the game. That'll get you taken to Act III without having to fight the knights.
of 16: Besides, you can use the portal in the Founder's Sanctum to get back to the boneyard and fight the knights later.
of 16: In fact, you may find the knight battle easier if you escape through the portal to the Founder's Sanctum and then go right back. (If you try this, you may want to delay casting your buffing spells until you're in the Founder's Sanctum.)
