Escape the Barrow
1 of 15: This quest begins right after you finish your initial conversation with Safiya.
2 of 15: Safiya urges you to get going, so after adjusting her memorized spells and behavior settings to your liking, start down the path leading east from the runestone chamber you're in.
3 of 15: As you approach a path split, two barrow guardian creatures will appear nearby and attack. You should have little trouble with them, especially if you've got a well-equipped fighter-type character.
4 of 15: Take the right (east) path branch after killing the guardians and look around for a pile of scrolls that you can search for items, then head down the other path.
5 of 15: Beware an electrical trap near the exit to the Middle Barrow. You should switch control to Kaji to see if you can get him to disarm it.
6 of 15: When you enter the Middle Barrow, your new spirit-eating nature will start to be revealed as you consume the spirit who greets you. At least that removes the weakness effect that you started the game with.
7 of 15: Explore the Middle Barrow thoroughly for combat and loot, plus exits to optional areas called Imaskari Library and Imaskari Forges.
11 of 15: When you enter the north central chamber, you'll briefly talk to and then fight a powerful spirit bear called Okku.
12 of 15: If you have trouble with him and his telthor pals, try summoning the orglash if you got its crystal during the "Appeasing the Spirits" quest.
13 of 15: After they're all dead, get the Axe of the Bear King from the chest next to the big altar, and pick up the pristine power essence that Okku dropped. (It may be hard to find if you don't remember exactly where it was that he got killed.)
14 of 15: When you're done, use the room's northern exit to bring up the travel map.
15 of 15: Go to the nearby city of Mulsantir to finish this quest and move on to Act I, Part 2: Mulsantir.
